WHAT IS GLYCOL?

  • What is glycol used for?
Glycol is used in antifreeze, coolants, de-icing fluids, HVAC systems, food/pharmaceutical products, and many more various industrial and home applications.
  • What is the difference between ethylene glycol and propylene glycol?
Ethylene glycol is mainly used in robust industrial applications, while propylene glycol is generally considered safe for food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
  • How is glycol produced?
Glycol is made through chemical synthesis from petroleum-based feedstocks. Renewable sources like corn, glycerol (from biodiesel), or sugarcane can also be used to produce various bio-based glycols.
  • What is a liquid desiccant?
A liquid desiccant is a hygroscopic liquid that absorbs moisture from the air, effectively dehumidifying it. You can commonly find them used in industrial HVAC systems to maintain low humidity, natural gas processing to remove water from gas streams, and in pharmaceutical and food storage methods to prevent spoilage.
